Southampton Hospital Broadcasting Association (SHBA), who were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2012, have been broadcasting to the patients of Southampton General and Princess Anne Hospitals continuously since October 1952, providing entertainment 24 hours a day, seven days a week and now they are looking for your help.
You could register to volunteer with SHBA in the following areas;
Broadcasters - you could present a live show or record one to be played later (most topics welcomed!);
Engineers - helping to maintain the station's equipment, from the specialist radio kit to their computer and WiFi;
Library curators - the station have a vast collection of music and would love some help to keep it all organised;
Hospital visitors - the station are keen to play the music that their listeners want to hear, so you could be a request collector on the wards.
Volunteers with SHBA must be at least 18 years of age and willing to commit at least 2 hours per week. Training is provided at their studio at SGH.
