We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our specialist paediatric team within the newly developed Southampton Children’s Hospital. We are able to offer an exciting fixed term part time role to work within our Level 3 Neonatal Unit 0.3wte).These are established services but there are number of upcoming developments which will allow the post holder will help to shape dietetic service delivery within both services.
The Southampton Children’s Hospital is a centre of excellence and provides award winning services. In addition there will be the potential for future opportunities in a variety of clinical specialities including: Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Cystic Fibrosis, Ketogenic, Diabetes and Respiratory. You will join our team of 15 specialist Paediatric Dietitians, assisting with the provision of acute dietetic support to Southampton Children’s Hospital, working alongside Paediatric Specialist Consultants, Nurse Specialists and dietetic colleagues, to provide support to in-patients and multidisciplinary clinics for both local and regional services. We are committed to research and the paediatric dietetic service is actively involved in clinical audit and research projects and there will be scope to develop this within the role.
The successful applicant will have advanced skills in the area of paediatric dietetics, as well as experience in supervision and/or line management. Effective leadership skills are essential as well as evidence of efficient caseload management, team working and communication skills. Good caseload management, organisational skills and time-management skills are also required.
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is a leading teaching hospital, hosting a wide array of specialist tertiary services and the Nutrition Biomedical Research Centre. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics employs approximately 60 staff comprising of Dietitians, Nutrition Nurse Specialists, Dietetic Assistants and Administration Staff, working across acute and community services and providing training for student dietitians (B and C placements).
