An exciting opportunity has arisen within Specialist Medicine for a Ward Secretary to join the C5 Ward.

The person we have in mind for this position must demonstrate an ability to provide a high quality and comprehensive administrative/secretarial service.  

They must be creative, capable of meeting tight deadlines and the ability to use their own initiative in what will be a challenging and demanding role.  An excellent telephone manner is required with an ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality at all times. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure, enjoy working in a team and have a desire to provide a first class service for patients and clinical teams.

The post holder will have a good general education (3 GCSE’s A-C or equivalent (including English Language) along with RSA II typewriting (or equivalent) and also knowledge of modern IT packages and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel & Access).

You will work within dedicated specialty clinical area to facilitate the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that co-ordinated and streamlined administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.  The post holder will work closely with the specialist nursing team; ensuring activity is correctly recorded so that income is not at risk.

**Training on NHS systems and processes will be provided**

The post holders will be required to work Monday – Sunday between the hours of 8am and 8pm (usual hours between 8am and 5pm but you may be required to work an evening or weekend with prior notice)

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
